Think we might poll for best retro get of the year, so throw up some of the best here and we'll pop up a poll once we have enough suggestions.

Again, people can decide what was great and why.

Nothing on the CDi counts, so don't even try.

The above statement does not open the flood gates for our resident CDi troll, who shall remain nameless to save his shame,
Retr0, you CDi Zelda loving madman
to spam the thread with CDi games for consideration!!!

No Boulder Dash or Repton either

My best retro get was re-acquiring one of these

With the assistance of my brother in law who had it shipped in from the UK where I got it for very little indeed.
And, the seller threw in a boxed copy of Pokémon Soulsilver for nothing, no pokéwalker but that was solved for a tenner on Adverts.
Not bad, all in all, and Steel Battalion is just awesome.

Of course my get could have been for nought after Retr0 killed my Xbox, luckily I had a backup crystal model so all was not lost!

    Without a doubt...

Considerably tame compared to the GETs likely to abound here, but nabbing Daytona USA off the PSN for pennies stands out. In the ratio to money spent versus time invested, I haven't had a game since The Binding of Isaac that worked out virtually free over the long term.

I once thought I'd jumped onto the classic gaming bandwagon during a boom, where everything was rising but bargains were still a-plenty, but my prevailing impression this year is that, if you're not willing to part with considerable coin, you're priced out of the market pretty swiftly.

My haul from Japan but if it's only one game then Taromaru.

BTW everyone better work very hard this year, I've a potential best get of 2016 waiting for me when I return to Sligo. Need to check it's not a bootleg first though, newish seller and the price was a steal by the end of the auction (100ish euro for a game that usually goes for 500+).

I think my best get this year was a full copy of Klonoa 1 on PS1 for 65 quid. Pretty happy with it, was a gift for a friend who loved the PS2 game and never got to play the first.

Mine has to be my star trek pin.
    Criminaly cheap for the condition!

Such a great game, I have it on the PS1 and the GBA one as well.
I think the Wii version, a remake of the PS1 original, is the business but quite expensive.

Picked up a good few bits over the last year. Probably the best retro "Get" bargain was another copy of Darius Alpha for 350 euro . Still a sh1t game, but I'm pretty sure I have the most copies of said sh1t game in the world :)

I think I got this this year. Didn't buy a whole lot of stuff but was very happy to add this.

Only really one big retro get for me this year, I know it's common as muck, but it's one of my big ones and one of my favourite the best games ever! Super Metroid.
(Also my first ever Japanese game)

Yeah, I wouldn't mind picking up the GBA games for her next if I can. I looked into the Wii version, pretty limited run of them and expensive for a UK copy too! :[

    Keep your eye on Amazon.co.UK
Every now and again something pops up on the likes of zoverstocks and you'll get a rare title for €25 or so.

I haven't had many retro-gets this year considering I've tuned down on collecting since relocating, but, I'd say this would be the best:

Got myself a Virtual Boy and several games mainly got it for Mario Clash as I'm a big Mario fan and hopefully in 2016 to get some other old Mario related games that I don't have.

Probably the haul of decent PS1 games for a euro each :(Final Fantasy VII, Doom, Quake II, Metal Gear Solid and Mission pack,Colony Wars and the HELP compilation, not a FIFA among them! ).Castlevania I on the nes for a good price (€12 if I remember correctly)was probably my favourite pick up .

Mario Tennis, Galactic Pinball, Warioland, Red Alarm, Vertical Force, Teleroboxer, plenty to choose from and none of those are expensive.

Mitch's New Astro City almost certainly being the best get for me this year.

As for games, picking up Cool World and Wild Guns for the SNES for great prices. Cool World's especially.

Picking this lot up for €25 at a market was another one.
