Using a VPN service on the computer but looking to see what is needed if I wanted to have it on the home network so all devices get the benefit.

Internet access is via the Horizon box which has an Asus router plugged into that and devices get their feed wired/wireless from the Asus. Is there a router that VPN settings can be loaded onto it or do you need a Windows based pc to be running to do this job.

Get a VPN provider that supports IPSec tunnels and the Asus will most likely allow you to terminate everything there. Or build a PFsense box and you can connect to openVPN.
