    Hello,

My understanding is that there is a legal obligation on Data Controllers (in this case, Irish Water) to respect the wishes of each individual, when it comes to communication.

I wrote to Irish Water and told the company that it was no longer permitted to telephone me or send me text messages. I wanted all communication in writting.  The company received the instruction.

However, Irish Water continues to attempt to communicate with me via text message and telephone call, despite my clear instructions.

I believe the company may be in breach of the rules regarding communication and using personal data, under Data Protection legislation.  Is this correct ?

Also, why are Irish Water intentionally disregarding my clear written instructions (which were received) ?

    Thank you.

    Thanks,

    G.

    Hi Niall,

As you will see from this discussion thread on Boards, Private Messages are not secure so I don't think it appropriate to be asking for personal information to be given in this manner.

If you want to drop me a private message with your direct line, I am happy to call you and provide relevant information.

    Thanks,

    G.

    Been there, tried that...

I think I'll try contacting the Data Protection Commissioner instead, see if they can either assist, or point me in the right direction.

    Thanks anyway.

    Thanks,

    G.
