OCTO LNB

Just wondering if anyone can help with the following:

Installed a new OCTO LNB onto existing sky dish, replacing their existing sky quad LNB.

Added three new combi boxes to the installation along with their existing sky and one existing combi.

All worked fine except for the following channels on the sky box. All Irish channels were missing except for RTE1 and 3E. All other channels appeared to be fine.

I tweaked the dish as much as could but to no avail.

Re-installed his old quad LNB and everything was fine.

Installed the new OCTO LNB on my own dish instead of my existing universal OCTO and again everything worked ok.

Just wondering if anyone has any pointers on what could be wrong.

    Ask any questions required

    Thanks

I had a similar issue where some channels were missing and others were there and in the end after going through everything it was the Cable that was the problem!

Once I replaced the cable all channels were then coming in fine, so you might want to check that?

Was there a change of lnb in your situation too.

Unfortunately, running a new cable won't be an option for me as attic has just been converted in the house and running cable outside isn't any help either.

It works fine with the quad lnb

The weight of the new octo LNB may be causing the arm to sag thus altering the elevation. If this is the case you would need to LOWER the dish very slightly.

Thanks but that's definitely not it. Tried moving dish but no use.

Anyone near hand you that you can check the new LNB on. Just as a matter of interest is it showing 0% signal on the box on that channel.

Edit I see you checked it on your own and it worked. can you bring your box to his house and confirm that there is still no reception on these channels with the new LNB

All the irish channels are on this transponder 10744.00 H 22000 5/6.
Try a manual scan on this frequency see what happens.

Input 1 on the sky box disappears entirely when you select any of the channels in OP.

That was a pointless test, as from what you've posted already it's pretty clear there's no problem with the box.

It was mentioned already, & I'm not sure if an octo actually weighs much more than a quad (though there's the extra cables too) but, did you notice if it was actually making the arm sag, & maybe see if the arm can be lifted on its own, & what effect this has on the signal?

    This is a zone 2 Sky dish we're dealing with? (~60cm top-to-bottom.)

Trying to move the arm on its own I said, not dish & all.

Maybe you already tried it (gently lifting the LNB), or maybe it's not possible for the arm to flex enough to affect the signal without being damaged, just thought it worth mentioning.
