Hi, i would really appreciate some advice. I am a single unmarried father, who has just separated from the mother of my child.
i have joint guardianship, which i know doesnt amount to a great deal, but it is something.
anyway , what advice do i need from here? Its new to me..
I dont know if i should have any more paperwork or do i need anything to protect my rights, especially as my child's mother is not irish and it is possible if highly unlikely that she may leave the country with my child.
any advice would be GREATLY appreciated. thanks!
    P

You have rights and obligations in this situation.

You could go to Court and get shared/joint custody and/or some agreed/defined visitation rights. This would/could stop the mother leaving the jurisdiction with the child.

But if you go to court for access/custody, it's more likely that she goes for some defined maintaince arrangement.

Do not wait around, go to court get your access, maintenance sorted.
Make sure you get regular visitation not only for you but also grandparents.

Do NOT hang about, take it from me it can turn sour overnight and once youre on the back foot its very hard to recover.
