I had and abortion recently. I'm finding it hard to come terms with it.

I just want to know if there any specialist services in Ireland to help with this? Or is my only option to visit a counsellor?

Thanks for any help in advance.

    Hi OP

I don't know a lot about it, and not sure if it's what you're looking for, but this sounds like it could be of relevance

    http://www.abortionaftercare.ie/

Post-abortion medical check-ups and post-abortion counselling is available to women living in Ireland who have had an abortion.

The counsellors and doctors working in these services are experienced in supporting women who have had an abortion. Abortion aftercare services are free of charge to all women, regardless of their age, income or where they live.

The services are funded by the HSE Crisis Pregnancy Programme.

It then goes on to give the info of various such services throughout Ireland.

Hope this helps. Will be thinking of you.

There is free post abortion counselling available from family planning and well women clinics. Personally I preferred to just talk to others who went through the same thing. There was a thread in The Ladies Lounge about abortion where people posted their stories and got support, it might be worth searching for it. There us also a book called How to feel better after an abortion by Jilly Smith which is non judgemental, non agenda and offers a lot of practical advice.

Do be careful, there are lots of rogue groups out there that claim to offer help but which are more about exploitation. Depending on how long it's been since the abortion do bear in mind that you're probably physically still recovering and it will take time for your hormones to readjust.
