Case Fans

I built my first pc last week and I just have one thing to clear up..... the case fans.

My case has five fans. Three of the fans have molex connectors and the other two have 3 pin connectors.

My mobo has one fan header on it.

I have connected the three molex fans to the PSU.

Should I get a 3 pin Y splitter and connect the final two fans to the mobo

    or

Should I get a molex to 3 pin converter and connect the final two fans to the PSU

Only one fan header - are you sure?

Split off the fan header as much as you can so the fan speeds can be controlled. Going off the molex can result in some pretty bloody loud fans.

Your mobo has to have more than one header. It wouldn't make sense except on mITX boards.
You could always buy the Grid from NZXT and then connect em all to that, so you can control how they work.

I'm not a big fan of the molex fans, too noisy.

Best thing to do, connect the two fans with the 3 pin connects to a y cable and plug that into the cha_fan1.

    Here's the cable I used:

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B003OSWPTE?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00

Arrived 4 days after ordering and works like a charm.

Do the temps rise appreciably if you only use two?

I had wondered if the other two were even needed.

I havnt been on the PC a massive amount yet to put the fans under any real pressure. What's a good programme for tracking the temperature

That mobo is not built for anything other than being an office PC. It seems that if you just have a strong intake and exhaust, nothing else will matter.
