I put a first coat of single pack paint on a ford 4600 yesterday evening and then a second coat this morning but to my horror 5-10 minutes later all the paint has reacted and now all wrinkly. A real mess.
    What should I do now...thanks

Did u use proper thinners or thin it with something else.
    Maybe steel was too cold/damp?

First coat of blue turned out grand. very happy with it, just when it got second coat did it react and bubble up..
correct thinners and primer was put on properly.
I actually purchased some more of the same paint this morning, exactly same as before as had run out so cant see that being the problem.

Throw up pics/get a mod to add them...as there's very little can cause the issue
Have you a air/oil separator in the line and it throwing oil into the line/faulty compressor??

It is a bit unusual to get a reaction on the second coat. Usually this would happen on the first coat around the feather edges of previous coats of non- compatible paints . There is very little you can do now except let it harden and flat it back down again . A coat of an isolating primer ( Barcoat etc. ) , make sure not to break through this when flatting , clean off with a proper panel wipe and then repaint . Drain your compressor vessel beforehand and use a good water trap on the air supply , pay particular attention not use any aerosols that may contain silicones or oils in the area of the panels. Good luck .

The 2nd coat was a new tin of tractol paint, same as before and someone mentioned that this could have reacted.

I Tested some of this new paint on another bonnet that I had primed only yesterday with the tractor but no reaction with the primed piece, just when It comes in contact with first paint coat will it react.

First coat was not cured properly, in these temps and humidity levels it can take a long time to cure, when the second coat goes on it reacts with the first coat and the evaporating solvents get trapped under the second coat.
You need to paint in warmer conditions, maybe some IR heatlamps can help.

oh I got a wrinkled effect and you could see it bubbling up very shortly after applied over other paint so you believe its the cold temperatures and not the paint that were the problem, its good to know thanks
