Looking to file my 2015 return as soon as possible after year end, as I am due money back and need the cash.

I will be filing on ROS, so anybody know how quickly a form 12 will be available. If my memory serves it take a few weeks before it is available

    Many thanks

If I remember correctly, I had access to my From 12 from very early February. I just checked 2014 and I filed it online on the 12th. It should be made available shortly into the new year.

Cheers mate. That is what I suspected was the case. Will be a lean January.

Unless you are declaring additional income or are obliged to file an income tax return, you don't need to submit a full form 12 or 11. If you are just claiming additional tax reliefs or credits then the bulk can be claimed online via PAYE Anytime in a few days so long as you have all your information to hand.

If he is on ROS and subject to self assessment, the PAYE online option for him/her is only an information system and CANNOT be used for tax "returns/claims"

He states ROS and form 12 in his first post. He may have been referring to PAYE anytime not ROS as lots of people get the two mixed up. If he is ROS registered and obliged to file a form 11 return then of course all he can use is a form 11.

In general it's amazing how many people file full returns every year, either forms 12 or 11 when they aren't required to. It's a waste of everyone's time.

I'm ROS registered and obliged to file a form 11. Additional non PAYE income.

I tried PAYE anytime, as also have PAYE income, and it says I can't claim additional tax credit as I have an active income tax registration. So that answers that.

I'll just have to wait until revenue make filing available on ROS. Surprising though revenue don't have it ready sooner, given they know what specific rules for the year apply from the finance act, published much earlier in the year.

Except that those rules first have to actually be signed into law, and then have to be translated into the computer program.

2015 form 11 has been available to file on ROS since Monday.

I'm hoping to get mine submitted too - but there's a message "you can't do this yet as DSP Illness Benefit needs to be processed".

I had four weeks off sick in September and so I had no choice but to claim IB (ridiculous btw - I hate the idea of claiming benefits).

Anyway, anyone got an idea what this is and will it hold up the medical expenses claim by much ?

You have just said what it was. It's illness benefit which is a taxable source of income. Contact Revenue to ask them to input the taxable figure.

If you paid other insurance and were entitled to claim would you?
Illness Benefit is paid from your social insurance.
