Running with sore shoulder

I haven't been doing much running recently due to general laziness. I'm booked to do a 5k run on 1st jan which I do every year to kickstart my training. I have a stiff shoulder due to bad posture. I have stretches from my Physio but they aren't doing much. So my question is- should I do the 5k? I really want to but am worried about making the shoulder worse. Any thoughts?

Running puts minimal strain on the shoulder so you should almost certainly be o.k. If I were you I would test it with a 10 minute jog - if that does not make it worse, you're okay to do the 5k.

That aside, you should ask your physio if you are unsure, not some bunch of random strangers on the internet!

Coincidentally I had a similar problem (shoulder soreness) recently. Work related.
Anyway...I was going out for a run after work and was a bit weary of it as I was running.....But in my case the slow backward/forward movement of my arm while running seemed to have been a positive for me.....
So, cant help you but I know it helped me....:)
    Good luck...

If it's just stiff then running will help loosen it up. I know from my experience of coming back from a broken collar bone it done it no harm, probably benefited from getting it mobile again after being slung for so long.

Hey OP, hope it gets better soon. 5k is not a distance that cannot be done with a sore shoulder, that said pain tolerance is individual so hard to give any advice.
Best of luck with your run
