Was going past a speed van tonight in a 60kph zone and was doing 61kph, will I be done?
Also where are the cameras placed on the vehicle is it just on the rear or the front aswell? Also what will the fine be?I slowed down immediately but would like to now we're the cameras are placed on the vehicle

All done to death in the mega thread. Please read it.

Camera, singular, is at the rear of the van, right hand window, and can only read speed of an object going towards or away from the rear doors.

Fine, if done, is €80 and 3 points.

At 61km/h, on your speedo, you would be doing likely 55km/h in reality. So no, you won't be done. Tolerance is generally accepted to be 2 to 3km/h over the limit.

Camera is to the rear of the van but can do both sides of a 2 lane road (ie. Approaching from front or back), or 2 lanes of dual carriageway. Your speedo will not be accurate. 61 is likely less a few km in reality by design so you are likely ok. Fine is €80 plus 3 points. Takes about a week to arrive in post. Cannot remember the speed capture distance from the van but it is just a few hundred metres (someone else might have exact).

I was coming towards the vehicle from the front , I presume I can still be done?
When i was going by the rear of the van i reduced my speed greatly, the nervous wait now

Camera is in the back I thought. Your ok I'd say.

If your speedo said 61 you were probably doing slightly less.
Use a GPS to find out exact number.

possibly up to 6 km/h less.

Funny thing about those vans is that I've often been certain that I've been caught, as I was well over the speed limit, but never received the notification. Been caught on a couple of occasions when I didn't even see the van and was only marginally over.
