Persistent rain today will ensure testing extremely testing ground at the Foxrock venue Sunday

Ruby should have a quick double with Lets Dance and UDS

to my mind, novice hurdle is between the two Robin Des Champs geldings - Tombstone and Woodland Opera - the form of the latter was endorsed today with Coney Island sluicing in, but think Tombstone is the best prospect Gigginstown have, so fully him to oblige, think this fella is the real deal

Heathfield and Rossvoss e/w plays in the PP

Over at Kempton, have to have a few quid on Vibrato Valtat at 8/1 given he gets 4lbs off two horses who may not appear as good as their last time out wins, granted VV was disappointing but his previous outing has him in the mix, so price now is wrong

If handling the ground, Ivanovich Gorbatov will take some beating in the first at Leopardstown imo.

mostly a watching brief for me today, interesting to see how lets dance goes as I believe Ricci was talking her up.
long dog, tombstone, woodland opera and bachasson looks a cracking race, id be backing Woodland Opera only the stable/owner all talk this Tombstone up as a superstar.
Looking forward to seeing how UDS and Sprinter both get on today aswell.

As for bets, a small e/w patent for me
    Wes Harden 2:20
    Dogora 2:55
    Foxbridge 2:35

shocking ride from Cooper, Elliott won't be happy, never mind Eddie and Mick

couldn't hold position around the turn, deja vu yesterday on Don - Russell will be back on these before long

Anyone fancy Dogara as an e/w bet in the 14:55?

If UDS doesn't win the queen mother id be taking my horse elsewhere if I owned him

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,625 ✭✭✭✭Johner

That is up there with my favourite Sprinter Sacre performance, he showed the heart of a true champion there, brilliant to watch. Great run from SDG as well.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,681 ✭✭✭BumperD

If UDS doesnt win the cc its because hes not good enough or suffers a mishap rather than how he has been prepared for the race.

There's nothing anyone can do to train the way UDS runs, he's just a bit of a head case and will always run the risk of what happened today.

Never got the most out of him as a hurdler, looks a flawed jumper now, not for me thanks

You would expect a horse that runs like UDS to fall pretty regularly. His long term prospects arnt great I would fear. Delighted with Sprinter Sacre and SDG looks back to his best again.

Eddie Harty managed to keep a straight face when he said that he was worried about the ground there after the big gamble was landed.

I hate seeing gambles in those colours. Even more so when they land

A flawed jumper! He has made two mistakes in his chasing life and he has fell twice. His exhuberant style of racing is his downfall not the person who is training him. Anyone that takes a horse out of the best stable in possibly racing history is an idiot, as Ruby said he'd have rather fell today than in March in the CC.

you have to hand to to Harty, knows how to get them handicapped and can tune them up for the big day, 3 nice winners he's had for JP so far this weekend - fine ride by Geraghty all the same

Kennedy is some jockey for a 16 yr old, surely he'll head across the water though, no real opportunity here for the next few years with current jockey arrangements

Arctic Fire goes 3miles tomorrow, be a good little race with Martello Tower and Alpha des ob.

makes sense to see will he stay 3 miles, apart from Thistlecrack it's a very weak World Hurdle, and better chance than taking on Nichols Canyon and Faugheen.

The horse lost his position jumping the 2nd last and he had to engage in a scrimmage to get him back in a position to challenge, at which stage the winner had sailed and couldn't peg him back in time. He didn't jump the last as fluently as the winner either.

that's what I'm saying, a lot of race riding is about position, and adpting as required, Cooper is not positioning his mounts well at present

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 492 ✭✭Wicklow Brave

Disappointing he didn't win today but Tombstone has a big future ahead of him imo. Grand yoke. Hope they run him in the Deloitte now against Min or Yorkhill or Bellshill or whoever.

Vautour at 10/1 for the QMCC looks huge. I'm convinced he will run in this race.

It's a bit harsh. The horse was very fresh to post said Andy Mc and was fresh for the first 5 hurdles . Caught on heels and had to go outside. Disappointing i know but money only lent.

Tombstone should have won if not for the jockey. Ruby was under huge pressure to carry him to the line for the win and at the very quick rate Tombstone closed him down, just missed getting up means If Cooper had tracked the leaders into the final bend better he would have steamed by.

Horse had it, Jockey was poor and let Ruby steal another one.

using the above analogy Davy Russell should have won the Lexus ?

I think with the volume of rides and good horses these guys are on, there will be mistakes, errors of judgement. They are pretty much riding in all the big televised meetings.

That said Tombstone probably should have won, but he gave Don Poli, a tricky horse in my eyes, a nice ride.
