Thinking of getting a pair of these but at 40€ want to get a pair that won't be too warm etc.
The reviews all seem great re water proofing but surely the knee high ones would be too much in this country most of the time?
Also would ths medium weight ones be the best balance for our climate?
    Anyone use them..
    Cheers
    Marty.

Whatever you decide, make sure you conform to Rule 27.

Paging Raam, Raam required for sock advice :pac:

And as crosstownk says, follow the rules:

Not too long and not too short. (Disclaimer: despite Sean Yates’ horrible choice in shorts length, he is a quintessential hard man of cycling and is deeply admired by the Velominati. Whereas Armstrong’s short and sock lengths are just plain wrong.) No socks is a no-no, as are those ankle-length ones that should only be worn by female tennis players

What about thermal bibs/leg warmers to avoid breaching the rules?

I really don't care.., as long as I'm dry and warm.
So mid length mid weight???... Anyone here actually using these???

I have them. I use them usually only when my shoes are already wet, so like on the return home from work on a wet day. I don't think I'd really bother with them starting off dry, the shoe covers are usually enough.

Not Seal Skinz, but I was out today in fairly harsh sleety 2 degree murk, and was wearing GripGrab windproof socks. First time so far this winter I've had toasty plates. Recommend.

I find them great for keeping your feet dry riding on wet roads but if you wear them when its raining they will eventually fill up with water leaving you feeling pretty miserable.

How does the sizing on these work?

Got a pair a few weeks back for about €32, great at keeping your feet dry but i don't find them very warm but i have very cold feet. I think mine have a 4 out of 5 thermal rating. Great for mountain biking/hiking too. I got large, they are for shoe size 9-11. They are loose fitting but fine when you put your shoe on.

I have knee high ones. They are very warm, I only wear them in low single-figure temperatures (once so far this winter). If there's heavy rain, it will run down your tights into the socks.

I bought them for mountain-biking, on cold days where you end up going through lots of puddles, they're great. On the road I wear overshoes instead.

I had 'em out on a couple of the deluges we've had recently. They didn't work. They got thrown into the dryer by accident and that was the end of them. I won't be replacing them. Gone back to Woolie-Bollies and a couple of overshoes. Woolly-boolies are the best winter foot thing by a country mile.
