Hi folks, just wondering what people do here,
this has never happened before, I shot a teal this morning but judging by the way it fell I didn't kill it outright, it came down in the middle of the lake and the dog went straight in, now here is where it went pear shape, the dog got halfway out and got disoriented in the reeds, I've done no work with him this year and he ran out of puff quite early on.
We searched for 2 1/2 hours, I even waded out to my waste ( only in wellys, thank god it's warm these days) but no sign
I ended up leaving, I'll have another look tomorrow but if I couldn't find it today I don't hold out much hope
    Am I over thinking this

Did you lose the dog or the duck?

What if you drowned today looking for a duck???..... What a way to go.

How does that poem go 'all the birds that are reared won't pay for one man dead' or something like that.

It's definitly unfortunate to be fair and we would all like to kill our game out right. But some times it's the look of the draw it's the way the sport is sometimes.

Try all you can to limit it happening but sometimes it just does an that's the way it is. Once you put it a decent effort to find it that's all you can do.

A wounded teal is an almost impossible retrieve, they keep diving and there is not a lot of them to see.
