Hi all. Not sure if this should be here or in the Satellite section?
    Feel free to move etc.
Anyways. Had 2 identical call outs last week where the RF2 section on both boxes had deactivated.
Both boxes where outputting in the 4G band.
1 box was channel 64 and the other on 62.
I moved both output frequencies down to ch36 (Clear spot) at both locations and reactivated the power for digi eyes then retuned the secondary tellys to the new frequencies and all was well.
I am wondering if Sky have sent out an over air software update to keep the boxes modulators functioning between channels 21 and 59 only.
Anyone else come up against this yet?
    Cheers.
    G.

UHF frequencies are ch 21-68....only in some ares would 4g interfere with this problem....I personally never use the higher range of frequencies unless needed, a lot of installers never change it from wheres it set originally as they ship on ch68. 4G filters can also be fitted to stop the signal ever getting to the box..

    Thanks Steveon.
I'm aware of the UHF Frequency range and the changes that were made post DSO with channels 59-68 reallocated to the 4G network.
My question is if anyone is aware of SKY sending an over air software update to deactivate sky rf modulators operating at the top end of band C/D ?

So, just to get this clear, you called out to these places, & the TVs fed from RF2 were just displaying 'snow', still correctly tuned to the relevant channels, & the RF2 power had switced off?

    @Thurston?
    Yes that's exactly correct.

Did you try retuning them in the '4G band'? Even if it is possible via software update, seems like an odd thing for them to do, as messing with the modulators like this would cause far more problems than actual 4G interference would.

No. Most sky boxes are set to ch 68 and no one has reported them stopping working.

Ch 68 is within an uplink frequency range (66 to 69 area) , which is what the handsets transmit on, these are low power and of course not transmitting all the time, so low risk of interference to the modulator.

Chs 61,62,63,64 are within downlink (basestation) frequency range and these would likely have very heavy interference, and transmit all the time.

Ch 65 should still be a clear channel for modulators

I had pictures of what 4G interference looks like on a Ch64 modulator in this thread:
