Hi, my sister bought a Lenovo tab2 A8 for her son in Argos for Christmas from santy.
I turned it on yesterday and set it up with a few apps and videos and all seemed great.
Tried turning it on this evening to make sure it was fully set up but it's dead and won't turn on no matter what, seen a few tips online but nothing works.
Anyone and ideas as to what might sort it?

I'll ask the obvious - is it charged? Do you see a battery animation on the screen while charging? Any charging light on the side of the tablet?

    plug in the charger,
it should come on ,the battery screen, battery charge per cent,
i bought a lenova yoga ,tablet, a week ago, in argos.

    would not turn on,
after 1 days use, battery at 40 per cent.
i had to press the power button,
hold it down for 1-2 minutes then it came on ,
    now it turns on,fine .
i press power on for 2-3 seconds .

    battery could be run down.

if i JUST plug in charger it shows battery charging .
    per cent.
    ie charge power screen mode,

IT needs to off to charge properly .

only goes on when i press power on button .

hold it down quite hard with one finger .for 1-2 minutes .

Lenovo confirmed it was looking into the 10-month-old issue, only now
It appears that some owners of Lenovo IdeaPad A2109 tablet have been experiencing issues with the device, being unable to turn it on or charge it.

Writing on the official Lenovo Community page, uhexo explains.

“I bought an Ideatab a2109, now 11/2 month later my tablet is dead, it does not charge or start up, is there any way to do hard reset? I saw a few videos how to do to soft reset but the tablet needs to be running.”

The user is instructed by a Support Specialist to follow these steps.

“Step1: Please turn off the tablet.

Step2: Then press volume buttons Up and down & Power button at the same time to boot into recovery.

Step3: Use the volume + or Volume - to move, and power to choose, Please select "wipe cache” then choose "yes”, after done, choose "wipe data factory”, choose “yes".

Step4: after all done, reboot your system.”

this will wipe all data on your tablet,
all apps, pics ,music, photos .

try hold down power button for 1-2 minutes, press hold,

    release aftger 1-2 minutes ,

    it worked for me.

plugging in the charger ,charges it,or shows the battery per cent power,
if battery less than 10 per cent,
just charge it to 100 per cent .

    then turn it on
my yoga 2 tab takes 4hours to charge .

plugging in charger does not turn it on.

if tab is left on with wifi on ,it,ll download updates ,
and the battery will go down to zero after a certain time .
    maybe 5 hours .

Thanks for the replys, only seeing them now.
Mr E it was fully charged and set up from Wednesday night and now nothing, on charge for hours and no lights at all.
Riclad it shows nothing when plugged in for hours and pressing buttons for up to a minute.
I feel very bad for the little fella. Few lies told in the morning and
gonna have to be a trip down to Argos early Stephens morn.

    try
    1. Plug the power adapter into the Tablet

    2. With the adapter plugged in, Hold down the power button for 20 seconds

    3. Disconnect the power adapter from the Tablet and press the power button for 20 seconds.

    4. Reconnect the power adapter and turn on the Tablet. It should power up just fine.

    or
press the volume key while pressing the power key for 30 seconds

Did you get it sorted OP?

My son has the same issue with the same model this morning.

I expected more than two days out of it.

Hi, sorry for the late reply.
Nope didn't getting it turned on at all no matter what i tried.
The tablet was left back and money refunded.
Most tablets have been out of stock in argos now for the last 4 weeks, not great.

Howdy folks. Had a similar problem today - figured i'd chime in with my 2 cents here, rather than the Lonovo forums. Coz they ****ing ****!

I have the Tab 2 A7-10. Had it for over 10 months. I like it - was cheap & cheerful. I don't game on it so i got no issues with performance. Yesterday, though, i let it get run down. Battery was at pretty much zero when i plugged it in & powered on. I think powering it on straight away & using wi-fi etc. just sucked whatever life was left out of the poor fella. After that, it was stuck in a sort of boot loop. Power on, "lenovo - powered by android" - vibrates, dies. Won't get as far as the boot animation. Won't get far enough to let itself charge.

    Anyway, found all these suggestions on the web, and all over the lenovo forums, including the below recommendations also posted here;

    None of it worked for me. In the end, i just played about with it, and got it going myself. Would suggest for anyone with a tab2, try the following;
    1. Press + hold power button
    2. Plug in power (use the lenovo charger for the correct supply of power)
    3. Wait until the unit 'turns on' - i.e. see the lenovo logo
    4. Yank out the power cable - I immediately saw it progress to the boot animation. Can let go of the power button then.
    5. shove the power cable back in and let it finish starting.
    6. leave it alone for a while to charge!
While this worked for me, i can't exactly replicate the issue. Don't think i'd want to either! No doubt my problem was unique in that i drained the battery a bit too much. Worth a shot nonetheless for anyone who is having same problem and can't get theirs to boot!
