Bah Stomach Bug!

I seem to have contracted a stomach bug and have not been able to hold down or hold in much food over the past few days.

This is bad, bad timing. I love food, and Christmas is all about the food.

I forced myself to have a fry earlier (big mistake) and now I'm in bed popping Imodium.

All I want for Christmas is to be able to consume all the wine and cheese tonight, the over indulgent dinner tomorrow, and all the leftovers and chocolate shíte over the following few days.

How can I fix this?

Take soda water if you have it, or 7up with the fizz removed, you need to hydrate yourself.

I was sick with something last night but thankfully I felt fine today. I was like you op, panicking that I wasn't going to enjoy Christmas. Last year I was at a stage in my pregnancy where I was constantly nauseous and had morning sickness alot so I'm grateful this bug i had last night seems to be gone and I can enjoy my Christmas dinner tomorrow. Not sure what you can do but hope you feel better soon.

Careful with those immodium..... let the body do the work.
What the body does not like, it will flush out, so I'd be hesitant about the immodium when the body is trying to do that work. If you are real bad, go to the doctor my friend.

Take the immodiun. It's what it's for.

OP, it sounds like you have contracted the much dreaded Norovirus. By any chance, did you visit Tallaght Hospital in the last few days or live in the vicinity of the it?

The reason I ask is that the Norovirus (winter vomiting bug) was doing the rounds at that hospital. See the following link:

Either-way, I hope that you got well OP and that you can enjoy the rest of the festive holidays.

    Any Brandy in your house?

The cork might come in handy:)

I also have a strange stomach bug today. Felt very bad this morning, but I thought it'd pass. Sat down to christmas lunch, started eating, oh god. Lucky I made it to the bathroom in time. Now I've been feeling **** all day.

For any fluids you've lost you can replenish with dioralyte. Highly recommend for reasons I won't go in to...

    Sorry to hear that.

We are all just a handshake away from this feckkin bug.

It will be gone in 24 hours or so. No consolation.

Plenty of fluids. A brandy is good as are bananas. I know this now!!

    Kill it with Vodka. Win-Win.

I had the vomiting bug on Monday and Tuesday. Was horrible! Had to take a day off work for it, was only my second time ever taking a sick day off work so must have been bad! Really should have taken another day off. Was vomiting chunks of food out of my nose, didn't know it was possible. :o The stomach cramps lasted until yesterday, better now though.

At least these things usually only last a couple of days. Keep yourself hydrated and rest. Not much else you can do really :(

Yes, it was in our house last week.. only a 24 hour thing. Make ginger tea from fresh ginger.. it will help kill the bug snd stop the nausea
