Technicolor TC7200.U no SSID broadcast. Help!

So, I arrive at the folks house for Christmas, and I head on over to the UPC Technicolor TC7200.U to grab the SSID and password off the back of the thing.

While I'm at it, I notice the SSID and password for the 5ghz network is there, but it's not enabled.

So I head to 192.168.0.1, enable the 5ghz network - click save and....

    ...

    the page times out.

    ....

    Connection is lost.

    ...

No flashing LED's, everything seemingly working ok, however neither my laptop nor my phone (both wireless N, 5ghz capable) can pick up the original SSID, nor the SSID for the 5ghz that I enabled.

So now I can't connect to the thing, I've restarted a few times, no flashing LED's etc, and still no SSID being broadcast/picked-up.

So here I am, viewed by my family as destroyer of Christmas wifi, while I wonder what the heck went wrong.

Any ideas what's gone wrong and how I can fix it before I'm shunned? :)

(FYI: I've no ethernet cable to hand)

If you can't get UPC support on the phone, then I'd suggest a full reset.

AFAIK the router will pick up it's config from VM following the reset.

Have the unit powered on, use a paper clip/sewing needle to press and hold the reset button (probably on the back) for a long time (perhaps up to 30 seconds), until the lights start flashing.

If that doesn't work, the router is borked, so expect some coal from Santa tonight.

All good. Reset worked. 5ghz still unavailable, but feck it, I'll live without it.

    Thanks!

You cant use 2.4 and 5Ghz at the same time, so enabling 5 kills 2.4 and if your device doesnt support 5Ghz then it "disappears".
