    Hi,
anyone know if Aer Lingus will take a childs scooter on for free ?

I think my brother mentioned that they do (he flys BRU-DUB)

    I´ll be on BCN-DUB..

Or most likely I will have to check it in and pay the $50 ?

A scooter is not hand luggage so I highly doubt they will take it into the cabin, but I guess you could try to email them or ask their Facebook page to find out how a scooter should be carried appropriately.

It could be perhaps used as a weapon so doubt it would be allowed in the cabin.

Yeah but realistically how can you stow a scooter in an aircraft cabin, weapon or not (it could be argued you could make a weapon out of anything) a scooter doesn't belong with hand luggage in the cabin !

Doesn't change the fact the item is highly unsuitable for stowage in an aircraft cabin

I haven't commented on whether the item is suitable or not, thats entirely up to the airline / airport security. It's the post about it been a potential weapon, which I consider a complete overreaction.

I saw this thread and for about 1/2 a second I had visions of the kid scooting up and down the cabin.

Possible to do if its a collapsable one as many are these days. Only sure fire way is to contact the airline. If not collapsable as others have said it wont be stowable in the cabin and there may be issues with it fitting through the x-ray machine also because of size.

No response from Aer Lingus yet, but my brother tells me they always have their 2 scoot up to the gate and hand it over there where they put it in the belly ...

Have seen lads with skateboards so if it is one of the ones that can fold I can see no reason why they would not allow it
