Roberts RIC 2 Vintage Radio - In need of power source

    Hello all, first time posting.

I have recently come into ownership of a Roberts RIC 2 vintage radio form the 70's.

Unfortunately, though it appears to be in great condition, I have no power source to test whether it works.

I am unsure of what voltage, polarity or ampage it works off of, and I am afraid to damage it by trying a cable.

The internet hasn't been of the best help. Would anyone here be able to help me or point me in the right direction to find out.

The radio has some sentimental value for me which is why I kept it, but I am eager to make it work to see if it has any value to it.

Thanks in advance for any help!!

    Put a battery in it!

As for value, check what they sell for on eBay.

Where and what type of battery would it take?

iirc it would take a really big 9V battery with PP3 type connectors on it. You can get battery cases that take 6 AA batteries which would do the job.

    Great old radios btw.

Edit> Think this is the one http://www.amazon.co.uk/Eveready-ER0510-Alkaline-Battery/dp/B000LMQ3SK a PP9 check the Customer Reviews.

But if you search around you should be able to find a battery box arrangement that takes 6 AA cells to give you the right voltage.

As to value, not much they are one of the most common Roberts Radios.
