Hey Gang, hope someone can help.

Forgive me if I get some of the technical jargon wrong, I'm no expert.

We've a fault on our line for a week no dial tone but fibre remained working,
Dial tone problem fixed, but now no fibre.

Eir tech calls me today, he's out working on it, calls me back with bad news !

Port is faulty and no spare ports available - He says another rack of ports is in cabinet but not wired ?? Does this sound correct.

Dont fancy my chances of it being fixed for chrismtas, kids and missus will not be pleased

Anyone offer any further advice ??

    1. Some idiot pulled your phone from the MDF, BB stays working as cab is connected still
    2. They came out to repair it, swapped your pair and connected you up to the MDF. Fixes dial tone, takes out BB.

Assuming no neighbours have been installed in the intervening time, the port that your old pair is connected to should still be free, you should still be on it! But if you were unlucky they re-allocated in the meantime, but systematically that shouldnt be possible.

I'd give them a week to get you back online then push it to COMREG as its the kinda thing that will have you going in circles for ages.

Thanks, Ed, tech tells me the port is damaged, and no free ports are available to move me too,

Spoke with another nieghbour two blocks up he's been told something similar, went to order fibre, no spare ports, looks like we need more for cabinet, me thinks this could be a long battle

Hey All this problem still persists, I'm three full weeks now with no service whatsoever, neither Vodafone my provider or open eir seem to have any clue as to when the cabinet will be have additional ports added to it for sort out the problem.

most gauling part is there must be others waiting for free fibre ports to be available and I even tried to order from Eir today to see what they would say and of course they say fibre is available. Well it isnt cause Open Eir dont have any spare capacity on the cabinet

You could be 12 months waiting for another subscriber to cancel, COMREG or a large amount of patience needed.
