Doing it now because MNF are doing it tonight.

    Butland
    Nyom
    Smalling
    Alderweireld----Daniels
    Kanté
    Alli

    Ozil
    Lukaku
    Vardy
    Mahrez

Not particularly balanced, but I think you have to get those front 4 in.

Honourable mentions to the likes of Fernandinho, Deeney, Bolasie, Dann and Payet.

Ighalo is the most unfortunate not to be in there.

Two players from United, City, Chelsea and Arsenal combined says a lot about the state of the big clubs right now.

My changes to that, but it's pretty nailed on otherwise. Is it just me or is there a serious lack of central midfield contenders?

Think Cech should be the goalie

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,466 ✭✭✭✭SlickRic

Monreal is a good shout. I'd considered him, but I threw in Daniels because he's offered more going forward in a lesser team.

Sagna, I think, has made too many mistakes; and that defence is so weak without Kompany i just couldn't bring myself to put in a City defender.

Gomes has been class. Butland has had a weaker defence in front of him, hence more shots to stop, meaning I've probably been influenced by that. And he's English, so more hype.

Monreal is this seasons Azpilicueta really - pure consistency, won't put a foot wrong. I can't really comment on Daniels, I've only seen him 3 or 4 times but he looks handy.

Sagna was really, really good for the first half (of this...half) but yeah he's dropped a bit, especially the Liverpool game. I still think he's good enough for this team mind.

I think I just put Gomes in because of his awful reputation, but he's genuinely great.

I don't particularly rate him but walker has had a decent season so far. Rb is particularly weak across all teams. I'd have monreal lb. Couldn't argue with any of slickric's other picks.

Keep it simple. Just name Leicesters starting 11.

    Nope.

Would you have put Liverpool's entire first 11 in during the 2013/14 season? It's the exact same thing.

Maybe Clyne. He's been very solid this year.

Were liverpool bottom of the table a year prior? No.

I made the comment tongue in cheek but frankly what they are doing is roy of the rovers stuff. To equate it to Liverpool is ridiculous. "Team expected to be in top 4 tops table for a while" is such a far cry from what Leicester are doing it defies belief.

I'm not equating the achievements at all. I'm saying the whole team weren't absolute standout performers. 3 or max 4 would have made Team of the Year.

It's the same for Leicester, whether they were bottom of the table last season or not.

    Ighalo Vardy

As a Spurs fan, I'm surprised Alli is in so many teams. Dembele has been better this season as has Eric Dier.

He's got potential but he's being overhyped.

    no sanchez ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,255 ✭✭✭shano_88

    Butland
    Bellerin Smalling Alderwerield Monreal
    Kante Capoue
    Mahrez Ozil Ighalo
    Vardy

Was struggling for the second midfielder slot with Kante. I went with Capoue but easily could have been Fernandinho, Alli, Cazorla...

How is Kevin De Bruyne not in? He has been excellent so far.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 931 ✭✭✭Chrissybhoy

    1. Butland
    2. Sagna
    3. Souare
    4. Alderwield
    5. Morgan
    6. Kante
    8. Cabaye
    7. Mahrez
    11. De Bruyne
    9. Vardy
    10. Lukaku

De Bruyne ahead of Ozil I know a few will disagree but I think he's been a small bit better. Igalho very unlucky. No Chelsea United or Arsenal players I would of put coqailin in if the team had of been picked couple of weeks back

He impressed me,way better than carrick/swinney and makes a brutal utd team with a dodgy back 4 hard to score against. Just look at the saints without him and how bad loverrn looks at pool

I know but we are talking about team of the season here. He hasn't done enough to be under consideration for it.

What are the rules? Is there a certain number of games to play before being considered? Is there a set formation?
I've not seen many pick a DM. If he wants a DM there's not many, if any better options.

    Schneiderlin?

In the team of the season?

Not in the best one anyway

Kind of happy with Arsenal's inclusion

    Ozil HAS to be in
Cech and Monreal as good as anyone at the moment
Bellerin, Rambo and Coq all potentially in but not because of injuries.

Depends on if you're picking a team of the season or a bunch of players of the season.
I wouldn't be picking him myself but I can see possible reasons for picking him.
Anyway, if he played for Spurs or Palace like Delle Ali, Bolasie and Dann it probably would have went unchallenged.

For someone that hasn't played much like him he would have to be exceptional in the games he has played. That's not been the case he has been steady so far and currently can't get in the utd team. There are far more deserving players and it has nothing to do with who he plays for.

    Only 6 Arsenal players?

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

    Only 6 Arsenal players?

They are 2nd to Leicester and they are the team I watch the most

How could people have so many players from mid table sides surprises me!!!

Because Watford, Leicester and Crystal Palace are doing brilliantly.

It's no more surprising than someone believing that just because a team is 2nd, that they have half of the best 11 performers in the league so far. If that were actually true, they'd be winning the league by 6 points at least by now.
