DIY Gutter cleaning without ladders?

Our gutter is over 20ft off the ground. Is there a way to clean it without a ladder? It's too high for me to reach to drop in any cleaning machine or robot.

The longest I have seen advertised is a Gardena at only 3.9m, c. 12 feet, I'd need 25ft to be sure.

I tried a number of things, including the Gardena options, got a Little Giant ladder in the end and did it properly :)

I think buying a good quality double extension ladder is the best bet. There's no better way to clean gutters than to actually be at gutter level and use your hands! While you're up there it's a good opportunity to visually inspect the roof for damage or spot potential issues before too late (a cracked, slipped or missing slate or tile, flashings needing attention etc.). If you ever go to repaint a hall stairs and landing you'll need one of the ladders to gain access to the ceiling and walls over the stairwell. You can't bate a good ladder!

And this is an invaluable addition for gutter cleaning.

I'm struggling to figure out what that is and where it goes.☺

It allows you to clean the gutters more safely and with better access than resting the ladder against the gutter. The hooks go on the ladder rungs.

They're called ladder standoffs if you want to Google them.

Makes sense now. Thought it was some sort of device for dragging through the gutter :)

To avoid having to clean the gutters in future I recommend you purchase a length of Hedgehog Gutter Brush

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/metres-100mm-Black-Hedgehog-Gutter/dp/B00FOTN1TE/

I installed this in my gutter 2 years ago and haven't had to clean the gutter since. Leaves and pine-needles etc just bounce off it and fall to the ground.

    Thanks all.
I just don't want to go up an extension ladder that high. I'll pay for a handyman to do it, as long as they are insured and not a nixer. I've called a few here in Gorey and they all tut about the height and quote in the hundreds of euro.

The hedgehog brush idea looks good but googling finds varied reports about it clogging.

Hmm I haven't had that problem so far after 2 years use.

If anything the brush makes it easier to clean if any wet leaves get stuck as they eventually dry while held up off the gutter, and either blow away or can be picked off easily.

Anyway they're worth a try as they're not that expensive.
