Washing Machine Not Draining

Hi all, I have an Indesit washing machine that is not draining water.

When I start a cycle it will run for a bit before stopping & then every light on it starts to flash. I now have a washing machine that is half full of water with no way of getting the clothes out and having a nose around inside to see what might be causing the blockage.

Anybody know of a handy way of draining off the water without flooding the house?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

sounds like clogged filter.....not much chance of avoiding water deluge.....get lots of dirty clothes and they'll soak most of it up?

Pull out the machine, take the grey hose out of the waste pipe and place it in a pot or a basin, make sure the pipe is low down. The machine will naturally drain into this as there's no valve to stop the water coming out.

This will allow the machine to drain down. After that I'd be looking at the filter and if there's anything stuck in the water pump impeller. Some filters are accessed via the front others its from the rear.

Thanks DublinDilbert, I'll give that a shot
