Household benefits.

Hi. I applied for household benefits and was asked to produce a bill or statement from my electric supplier (prepay power) which I did. I live alone in a family members home and the bills are in their name. I was asked to get a letter of said family member to confirm this and I sent that to the household benefits crowd. They said they may be able to apply the monthly allowance as a cash credit. Then they rang me saying I was not entitled to it. There are no bills coming into the house in my name. I asked the family member if my name could be on the elecrtric account and they said no. I provided what was asked of me and refused. I had applied for the bottled gas allowance as there's is no mains gas in my area. Is there anyway I can be entitled to the household benefits package. I am on disability allowance since late October

Why didn't your family member transfer your name onto the electricity bill? I think until this is sorted you won't be able to claim your entitlements.

    Think about it.

You have no bills to pay, therefore you do not need assistance with your bills.

Until your name is attached to the MPRN in your home you won't get the benefits
Tell your family member that they don't have to remove their own name, just add yours
Sometimes for tax reasons, people don't want anyone to know they have a tenant tomtom
This is the trouble with renting from family

Your living alone in a family members home, with no bills in your name. I assume you get the full rate 188euro, so you don't need household assistance.

People living alone on DA are entitled to HBP
I think your opinion on wether he needs it is neither here nor there

Its not my opinion, I'm saying that's probably why he was refused! If he has no bills he doesn't need it. I know he may have bills but he can't prove it.

He has to pay for his electricity usage and his tv licence same as everyone else
If the homeowner will put his name on the account then he will qualify
If the homeowner has nothing to hide then this shouldn't be a problem and will certainly be no skin off his nose

He can't prove that he has to pay bills like everyone else. The homeowners told him they wouldn't put the bills in his name. So, in the eyes of the Social Welfare, he has no bills to pay. This isn't rocket science

Your application has not been approved because you failed to reply to a previous request for information.
They asked for a letter from family member saying I live alone in the house and that I top up the meter out of my own money. I provided that letter tho

I asked if family member could put my name on the bill and they said no. I was also told the bottled gas allowance was for people in caravans ?? When did bottled gas become exclusive to caravan owners lol.

The monthly allowance would really help towards my heating needs as I'm in an old house that is quite cold

As I already said, this is the negative bit of renting from a relative
Your probably getting the rent at a reduced rent
Also, ignore posters here telling you what you do or don't need, and scoffing.
Some people think that your entitlements come straight out of their pockets so they can pass remarks on your life
    They can't
If you can find somewhere small and cheap to live within your rent limits you'd be better off then in that big draughty house
