Hi, I have freesat working fine in one room but I joined up a temporary cable to extend into a another room but I cant get a signal lock. I used a 13amp electrical connector and a proper plug into the TV. I tested thst i have continuity so I'm confused. Should this work? Thanks

Did you join the braid as well as the centre wire?

When you say a proper plug on the tv end is it the push in type or screw on?

if it's a satellite cable then this approach will not work. Each cable needs to run back to the LNB on the Dish. as the LNB adjusts its oscillating frequency for a given channel. This is controlled by the box and so two boxes can not work off the same cable for satellite (Ordinarily) there might be some hardware that can be bought but I am not aware of it and it would not be the done thing

Like old radios LW/MW/SW/FM there are 4 bands on satellite.
A cable can only carry one at a time. This is why SKY/Freesat boxes need two cables to record one program while watching another.

Also the satellite box tells the dish which band to use. So a second box sharing the cable would only see the same band but it won't know which one of the four bands is in use because the first box decides that.

If just extending a cable then you need to use proper f connectors properly connected. The frequencies are so high that dodgy connections mean too much signal loss.

Only 2 frequency bands, with the other split being horizontal & vertical polarisation of the signal.

And the 1st tuner will only 'decide' which the LNB is switched to, if the 2nd has no input into the LNB switching (e.g. if a splitter with power-passing on only 1 leg is used), with 18 volts for H. pol. &/or 22 KHz tone for high band always 'winning'.
