    Is it possible to find out the star rating of a heifer prior to purchasing her or how do you go about finding the star rating after purchase other than asking the previous owner if you know who the previous owner is
    Is it possible to find out the star rating through the ICBF ?

    On the ICBF website you are able to see the star ratings of all your herd, it usually takes 5 or so days for new animals to show up on it :) Im not sure if there's any way to find out before purchasing without asking the owner him/herself though :o

    I believe the answer is NO ,you are supposed to buy a pig in a poke and then meet their criteria for stars in 2020. You could try standing in the mart and reading their tags then ring ICBF but they may not tell you if they are not in your herd, I don't know ,they will tell if they are in your herd but the quarterly update hasn't happened yet .     The problem with the rating of a bought heifer is how trustworthy is it? The last farmer could have put down any sire in AI. All he'd have to do is pick the best bull out there in AI and just put it down.

    Was wondering the same myself. I bought in a heifer and she has no rating yet because she has no sire or grandsire recorded. How does her star rating work?
