I haven't time to type out the proper response your OP deserves, but I will later when I have time. Really enjoyed reading it though.

Why is your poll so bad?

edit, it's now fixed by mod

They're people who enjoy Christmas. I wouldn't put any on my car, but who am I to tell someone what they can and can't do if it's doing me no harm? Season of good will? Not if the OP or anyone who has voted in the poll are any indication.

I guess there just people with kids who wouldn't otherwise?

My nephews ask when the antlers are going on the car because for them it's a signal to start getting excited about Christmas, and they love them.

Obviously my brother and his wife are morons for pandering to small children and making things fun for them. ****.

If I see them on a car, I automatically judge the person driving. It's usually a negative judgement.
For instance if I see a car at a junction trying to join the flow of traffic and it has antlers on it, there's absolutely no way I'm letting it in. So to say they are doing no harm isn't strictly true.

    Oh
And the same goes for those eyelashes above the headlights... they can fuCk off an all.

Round about the birth of our first child I surrendered all dignity, all pretence of maintaing a modicum of masculinity with regard to my car.

So Yes, the antlers and red nose is on the people carrier much to the kids delight. It suppose it was embarassing enough for the first Christmas, but by then I had stopped caring

Fcuk you Pappy, I won't be letting you in your lowered Micra out from a junction so....

All I ask is that people remove them in January. I saw one on a car in March this year. A lone, flaccid antler wobbling around in the wind and rain. It was very depressing.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,281 ✭✭✭Valentina

Wouldn't want them on my own car but each to their own.

We put a santa hat on one of the horses and some kids sat up and had their photo taken. They thought it was great. :)

Horse got a few carrots and thought it was great too.

No, it was heading off the Superquinn roundabout and it was dark, all I could see was an assortment of coloured lights at car roof level :D

Yes, it still is true. Seeing as you're the one causing harm, not the reindeer car ;)

I bloody love the antler & red nose craze. Cheers me up every Christmas :D I have yet to get a set to bling up the already seriously uncool Skoda Roomster, but this below....

Ha ha, na I didn't actually vote first time around so I'm still able to choose.

But you're welcome to a nice big bowl of the sherry Brandy trifle I'll be making during the week :)

If you're going to do something, do it right!

Those 'antlers' look absolutely pitiful. Consumerism at its worst. Everyone driving around with the same lame looking attempt at fun.

There are tons of things you could do to make a car fun for Christmas. And maybe create your own little thing you and the family do this time of year

A bit of imagination goes a long way.

Theres some spa I see every morning and evening going to and from work. She had the car antlers on this time last year and all the way until April.
One morning I seen her and there was only one antler left, i thought surely the **** would remove the other, but no, she drove around with one antler until August or so.

Bitch has a whole new set on now

Forget the red nose and antler craze , the personalised Nutella label fad tops them all .

I guess you really hate antlers if it inspires this level of vitriol. Spa, ****, and bitch?

You could probably benefit from a more live and let live attitude to life.

Oh yeah, my youngest is a bit keen on that. I actually haven't looked to see them. Generally too busy disposing of the contents to notice the label ;)

Clearly :p That was quite a response to a simple case of someone having a different sense of fun to you.... ;)

Christmas is one of the hardest times of the year for many. I'm taking the little good bits out of it that I can, but on the countdown to it being over, and it's not just a case that I should just be thinking more positively. It's genuinely very painful and triggering.

I think it depends on the car. On SUV-shaped things (qashqai, rav4, etc.) I think they look funny. Especially on the (rare) bronze / reindeer coloured ones.

Out from that I'm not overly fussed. I think they're a nice little touch though, obviously aimed at kids/family cars.

Hugs your way. It'll be over soon. I genuinely have to pretend I like it long enough to actually knock some enjoyment out of the season, and I haven't had any bad experiences around it to make it painful so I can't imagine how hard it is for some folks. Wishing you all the best for the New Year instead then.

An there's a fair amount of tongue in cheek. I do hate the look of them.but I'm playing it up,i won't hold a grudge over it.

I agree. They would make my daft box shaped dark beige car into a killer-reindeer!! What could be less cool than that? (and therefore very much worth it to make the two teen boys get in and out of a reindeer killer box on wheels, possibly with lights in if I can find a way to stick them on)

I think the trend should be extended. At Halloween I'd love to put a broom stick up the exhaust pipe of a Merc whose driver is a witch. Please make this a thing!

If I had teenagers, I'd definitely have a reindeer nose and antlers; humiliate the feckers.

Now somebody gets it! Humiliate is a strong word though. I prefer to think it would be helping them to get over themselves. They expect no less of me.

I don't even notice them on cars if I'm honest.

They're harmless and if they make other people happy then why should I stand in the way?

    Humiliate the feckers
They insisted on them when they were 6, they can start to learn their actions have consequences , and revenge is best served cold, when you pick them up from the teenage disco, antlers, red nose and a novelty car horn

    What is this thread about?

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.
