You'll get it in the PO on the Wednesday or Thursday 30 or 31 December depending which day you usually get your payment
Jan 1 is a Friday and is a Public Holiday, New Years Day
The PO will be closed that day

Did anybody actually receive any notification letter about the holiday period payment disruption? I certainly didn't. Pretty shoddy considering how important these payments are for people.

The notices were up in all the POs and on the welfare website since start of December.
Letters out to every SW recipient cost a bloody fortune
You had to know there was going to be some disruption to your payment with 3 public holidays and 1 bank holiday in 2 weeks

I don't have to know anything of the sort. None of my payment days fell on holidays.
Only certain payments were disrupted. No signs in either of my local post offices. They send notifications by post for other important changes. Its once a year, worth a letter to the effected parties IMHO.

doubtful they could justify the cost of letters to that many sw receipents.
some ce scheme paymen ts were only made on the usual days i.e if ce payment was a thursday, then it only went into bank/cu on the thursday so not much use to people who couldn't access credit union on christmas eve/new years eve etc.
it's difficult when christmas is at end of a week i think.

Effected parties have plenty time to get the information.
Spoon feeding folks with letters and time taken to generate said letters helps no one really.

The important changes letters are sent for are usually around rates or change or circumstances as opposed to annual and foreseen issues around payment dates.

While payments themselves may not fall on holidays the process required to make that payment may be delayed by the holidays.

The reasons letters aren't issued for this type of thing (I would have thought) is pretty obvious. There are over 2 million people in receipt of some sort of welfare payment, letters issued to that number of folds would cost close to a million euro in postage alone, never mind all other costs.

And you didn't think to question it when you were given two weeks worth of money one of the times when you went in?

Or did you just think they'd made a mistake and decide to run for it? :P
