    Zarib 10/1 - 3:35 Ascot ★

This is a very wide open race and it’s one of the biggest races of the day. It’s a good idea to follow the trends for this race to help you find the winner. It’s a proven guide to follow in this race. You want a horse that’s aged between 4 and 6, a horse on the rise, officially rated 133 to 146, carrying over 10 stone 9lb, placed in all starts this season who is a 2nd or 3rd season hurdler. Following Dan Skelton, Gordon Elliott and Alan King also has proven worthwhile. Horse’s that are held up also have a huge advantage in this race. Factoring in all those trends we are left with 5 horses. They are, Waxies Dargle, Hurricane Hollow, Unanamite, Winter Massagot and Zarib. The latter two are trained by Alan King and Dan Skelton. Winter Massagot destroyed a big field last time out and looks on the up. Zarib did beat him in a novice hurdle last season by 25l though and Zarib is 2lb better off with him today. Zarib was formerly a decent flat horse for John Oxx. His debut run this season was in a grade 2 handicap hurdle. He was 3rd behind Irving, he was also won since. If Irving was in this race he would be a very short price. Zarib looked in need of the race that day too. I think he can run a big race off a low weight. The course and ground will suit. Being a hold up horse that is also a big advantage. He does have a great chance but so does about 10 other horses in this, which is why we're only giving it 1 star.

Backing Deputy Dan here, 12/1 looks very big given he looked like he ran out of fitness last time.

Massive improvement with every run, at this rate he could be lapping horses in the World Hurdle.
