Irish lad jumps out of a plane in Oz mid Skype conversation with his mammy and daddy.

    Fecken deadly.

‘Aah. Holy S*$&! I thought he was on a bus’

An Irish man backpacking his way across Australia has been making headlines all over the world - after he was good enough to make a call home to mam and dad.
The Skype call Roger Ryan made is not itself what attracted all the attention, however.
What saw a video of the call go viral was that the young man rang his folks as he got set to jump from a plane at a height of 10,000 feet.
    Turning the air blue
While Ryan then soared through the blue sky down under, his mother started turning the air blue when it became clear where he was calling from.
When the call came, neither she nor her husband had a notion where their son was, logically assuming he had his feet firmly on the ground somewhere.
    Continuing as normal
But as Ryan’s parents huddled around the screen, delighted to be talking to their faraway child, he leapt from the plane on the back of an experienced skydiver and continued the conversation as normal.
The footage was captured by Hostelworld, a hostel booking website, who got in touch with Roger during his stay at Bounce Hostel in Sydney.

No time for parachuting at all, unless you're going somewhere a plane can't land or you're gonna crash, stay in the fcuking thing til it lands.

Absolutely. Come back to us when you're the one who has to make the decision to let go of the plane!

Before I left country we had friend's birthday and my good bye party. We got panoramic flight as a gift so next day still not completely sober we went to the airfield. We saw people coming and going for the panoramic flights and then someone calls us over and tells us to follow him. We come to this old yolk that definitely wasn't one of the planes used for panoramic flights. Friend was way more receptive and he goes "did you get us a jump?" I remember thinking surely they didn't but then I was handed overalls. I knew they thought it would be exciting present but I also know that most of them very much hoped that we would be bricking it. Luckily I was actually too hungover to show too much fear.

One of the coolest things I ever did and probably the best present I ever got.

The correct spelling of "eejit" is "idiot". They are not a seperate word. Just in HIberno English eejit is quite common pronunciation of idiot.

Did it back in the 80s.

But one of the best places ever to get a ride. Afterwards an absolute stunner couldn't get her kit off quick enough. Its probably the huge rush of addrenilin, endorphins - whatever.

Anyway went back a second time. No girls on the plane. Not so good:(. There was a chubby guy jumping after me - but he landed before me. They'd miscalculated the size of chute he needed. He came in well hard but pretty much walked away.

That pretty much put paid to that hobby.

    Hehehe.

The local airfield was pretty known for jumps and quite a few of the people I know did course and solo jumps. Apparently most people get scared around 4th solo jump . Before that they are operating on the autopilot, adrenaline is pumping and they have to concentrate on what to do. Around fourth jump they have time to think about what they're doing. If I remember correctly the course was five jumps and very few did more than that or went on to train properly.

It's high time 'going viral' just went away. Cult of the ego has gotten well out of hand.
