    Hi,

Can anyone recommend a good alarm system and installer for car alarms. I'm looking to get a smalll SUV (Qashqai, Tucson etc) next year and wondering what the cost might be, I'm in Dublin.

I had META a number of year ago. Do they still do alarms.?

    Thanks,

Personally, and some bias here, I'd recommend a tracker instead. A decent tracker (Not DealExtreme etc) can be installed and maintained for less than €300, which is less than the excess of most insurance policies. Yearly, you are looking at less than €60 or so for the SIM card. The upshot, you're in a far, far better position to get the car back. How many car alarms do we hear daily and ignore? Thieves are getting smarter, cars are being taken with and without keys and towing is becoming a little more common place. The inbuilt alarm in most cars will resist the opportunist but if someone wants the car, they will take it. If however you want an alarm, I'd recommend all out with a Clifford.

What would be the point of the alarm? I can only see a possible need if you kept valuables in the vehicle.

Would an obvious alarm installation provide more of a deterrent. ?
As the vehicle only comes with an immobiliser
