I have a friend who is abusing drugs. I assume that it is Methaqualone or Quaalude. How is this drug obtained. She is lying in the kitchen now and can barely move but it's nothing new.

She clearly does OP. I am also a grown woman and I could track down someone who sells that stuff within 24hrs, even though I've never seen it before in my life.

    Is she ok? Breathing comfortably?

She just spewed up on the kitchen floor and I rolled her on her side. I threw a blanket over her and put a pillow under her head. She is groaning. A complete disgrace.

Your friend needs help OP. Ring an ambulance and get some information on long term treatment for her. She's going to need your support, not your judgement. Calling her a disgrace will not help her.

Ketamine is an anaesthetic and it's dangerous stuff when misused. It could kill her, by the sound of things. Get paramedics now.

Why do you assume these drugs?

If she is bad and throwing up make sure someone is with her at all times. An ambulance maybe needed as the situation can change for the worse very quickly.

Talk to her tomorrow and see if you can get to the bottom of it but unless she is willing there is not much else you can do.

    How <snip>

She clearly does. Your mate got these from somebody who is a drug dealer.

    ...

Your friend is lying on the ground, possibly having an overdose (I have no medical experience or in-depth knowledge of this, so can't say for certain) or at least is in an unbelievably bad condition, and instead of calling for paramedics (like most friends would), you're on a discussion forum, telling complete strangers how much of a disgrace she is.

Have to say.. you're the disgrace in this situation, in my opinion.

    Call the paramedics.

Why do you assume it's these it could be a lot of things really, what she's taking can have an impact on her treatment plan in terms if her ability to access treatment but that's something she'll come up with with her doctor if she's interested in changing her drug use.

Discuss with her how she was tonight and explain to her you're worried, there is help available for her if she wants it all be it limited. There's a directory of services on www.drugs.ie

RE: where do the drugs come from? I don't see how you knowing who her supplier is will be of any use to you in supporting her. It's not hard to get drugs, if she wants them she'll find them.

I think that may be the stupidest post I've ever read on boards but that's neither here nor there.

Anyway, judging by your posts I think you need to be more understanding of the position your friend is in rather than calling her a disgrace. Talk to her about it, and go into the conversation with an open mind.

    Methadone or qualudes ?!?
Both not exactly easily obtained (Methadone maybe, qualudes, no) ye sure she's not smoking heroin?

Very easily got, more so than Methadone or qualudes (which aren't produced anymore and haven't been for a long time I believe, I've taken most things under the sun, never met anyone who's done them tbh)

Tabs of some sort? Like sleepers or anti-depressant stuff? Is there alcohol involved? **** people up in short order when combined. Call a fcukin ambulance ffs and get off the Internet, she needs your help right now, not judgment.

OP was posted 9 hours ago. Hopefully everything is OK

I really do hope their friend is OK, because can you imagine having that on your conscience? That you could have done something when it mattered, but instead you decided to go online instead of to the paramedics.

Really do think the OP does need to wash their hands of their friend; not for them, but for the friend, because if they do decide to go down the treatment route, they'll need support and not someone that would call them a disgrace to complete strangers.

a junkie will steal lie and bring you down. you dont want that in your life. If they are on heroin or methadone they have made their mind up what they are planning on doing for the next decade or lifetime.
If you are not used to people on hard drugs or their environment , prepared to be used and abused everytime you offer some help. They can be great liars with their hardluck stories and denying they robbed this or that off you as "they would never do such a thing" etc etc

if it was me, I Would get them out of my life asap, you have your own life- dont ruin it trying to help a lost cause.

I've been putting up with it for over ten years now and your skin starts to grow thick after a while and scenarios such as this which would faze most people wouldn't phase me at all. Junkies are greed personified.

Not the OPs responsibility what another adult ODs on, would tend to imagine that if they felt an ambulance was required they'd have called it, would tend to agree that 'disgrace' is a suitable term (or at least not worthy of the shocked and sad reaction by posters itt), would tend to agree that if the OP isnt interested in being this person's clean up crew going forward that the OP should remove themself from the ongoing situation, whereby they won't be chided by internet experts in coddling drug users in future.
