Hob/Oven in corner of kitchen

I have a pretty small U shaped kitchen which I'm considering re-doing. I currently have an undercounter fridge but hoping to get a fridge freezer but this will take up some valuable counter space. A suggestion has been to put the hob in the corner to gain counter space as this is kind of dead space currently. I think it would end up something like this

The hob is currently at the bottom of the U so to speak. Does anyone have any experience of doing this in a kitchen? Is it more effort than it's worth?

    Have a similar setup ourselves
We find it great for cooking at the hob as the counters are to your sides and closer to you than a straight run of counter
    We have drawers under ours
The awkward part is to blend in an extraction unit.
We used a door mounted extraction unit it took a bit of customising to get right but worked out in the end.
