Scratched windscreen. Couple of Q's

Was driving home the other day early evening past the national archive on Bride Street (in Dublin).
They've been doing work on the place for the last number of months. Scaffolding along the whole side of the building.

Stopped at the lights. And heard the roof and windscreen being pelted by grit of some sort. Immediately turned the wipers off (pissing rain at the time). Wasn't quick enough as there is now a perfect scratch at eye level following the arc/ sweep of the wiper blade.

It's a brand new car. So needless to say I'm not a happy camper. Given its right in my eye line it can't stay.

Does anyone know if this is repairable? Luckily I've never had a chip, crack or scratch ever before so haven't a clue.

Should I get in touch with the national archive? Doubt I could prove anything but maybe they might do something about it so it doesn't happen to someone else.

    Thanks in advance.

You can polish glass but depending on how deep the scratch is and finding someone competent to do it.
