NCT query: side repeater

    Hi
Would anyone be able to answer this for me.

My side repeater lens on p/s wing was cracked so I ordered a new one in the motor factors.

Then noticed when I was going to fit it that it's amber but the original and the driver's side lens is clear.

Both have amber bulbs and working fine, but now they are mis-matched,
    P/s-Amber lens
    D/s-Clear lens

Would this be a failure if it is noticed during the test or is it required that they are symmetrical?

Any information would be much appreciated

    You'll be fine, OP.

The main thing is that the colour given off to other road users is orange, which it will be in your case.

The colour of the cover is not important in this case.

I tried uploading a photo of the page in the nct manual that will cover this.

It's on page 45 anyway, if you want to take a look.

    Good luck.

By the way, did you have any difficulty getting a date?

    Will take a look cheers

Not really, I looked yesterday and they were booked up/on holiday until 4th Jan.

Then I got wed 23rd December when I looked again today.
A few other test centres nearby had lots of slots available next week so I wouldn't have been stuck. My test isnt due to expire until mid Jan anyway.

They probably wouldn't even notice the difference. Are you gonna get the proper lens afterwards, that'd drive me up the wall if it was me :o

Good question! What if your car doesn't have a side repeater in the fender, what then?
