How long can treatment wait?

    Hi

I went to my dentist last week with slight (on and off) sensitivity to sugar. She said I have an old composite filling that is worn off and will need to be replaced as it is certainly letting the sugar seep underneath, which explains my sensitivity.
As I had just started a new round of Gabapentin for facial neuralgia, she advised to wait until the Gabapentin had started to work, and to call this week. I called yesterday and the first appointment available is now on January 09th

I usually have all my issues fixed as soon as possible, and all fillings done as soon as needed, not with a wait of over 2 weeks. I never had a leaky feeling either. The pain is not bad, just a slight unpleasant feeling when I eat sugar. I try not to eat too much sugar, and I brush and floss religiously but I know the brush won't reach underneath the filling.

The question is: can this wait or does decay progress very quickly when it's under a filling?

    Thanks
