It is a compromise, the more puncture resistant you go.

Despite the ballache of putting them on, and the weight, I still use Schwalbe Marathon Plus. I haven't really had issues with their handling, but I do watch it cornering after everyone slagging off the handling on previous threads on here.

Keep talking about swapping them for the summers, but still love their puncture resistance!

I recommend Schwalbe Lugano's, they can be picked up fur around €20 in most bike shops (CSS had them st that price not too long ago) They have excellent puncture resistance without being ridiculously heavy.

+1 on the lugano's. though you're getting fleeced paying 20 quid for them. never paid more than 13 for them in css and other spots.

rolling resistance is poor on them though i suppose its not a big deal for commuting. switched to conti ultra sports recently and there's a noticeable difference.

The Lugano tyres don't last p!ssing time though....... I had a set before and they only lasted less than 3,000km

Yeah I agree with wear rate but for the price of them and their puncture resistance I find them hard to beat. I've had two sets of them and never had a single puncture on either set. I got roughly 2500kms from the first set and closer to 3000km from the second set.

Glad to hear about the lugano. Have a set on the bike I got from CRC in their black Friday deals.

Luganos are excellent for puncture resistance, but wear quickly. The biggest issue I had with them was grip in the wet. Turning right on any polished surface was dodgy, turning right where there were lines painted was lethal. I switched back to the Duranos and am more than happy with them.

Schwalbe Durano plus for winter, maybe the Luganos for summer.

Continental GP 4 seasons I have found are great. Seems to be a good compromise between wear, grip and protection against punctures.

These were bombproof for over 10,000km of commuting.
