Submerged Civilisations

I was reading a book by Graham Hancock entitled Underworld.

In the book Hancock posits that an entire civilisation existed at the end of the last ice age - far earlier than most archaeologists suggest - but was flooded by rising ocean levels.

Hancock claims to have found man made structures underwater off the coasts of India and Japan.

What do posters here make of Hancock's ideas? Crazy and lacking credibility or really visionary?

So do you think that there is a veritable treasure trove of past human civilisation lying below the ocean, waiting to be discovered?

Generally I think its worth looking at some of the counter arguments here

Also the website http://www.jasoncolavito.com/ is good for a sceptical side of the argument. He does a chapter by chapter review of Graham Hancock's latest book which I found good.

    Hi JupiterKid,

Until Graham Hancock shook this tree, no-one seemed to care about submerged remains.
Now even Time-Team did an episode relating to underwater archaeology.

From memory there are multiple sites that are now appearing from the depths, North West India, most of the Mediteranian, Possibly Bimini, plus many more.

The " Monument " off Japan, ( Yonaguni ) is still subject to investigation, but many others show Hancock's theories as valid as most other theories.
