Which 40" 1080p TV?

    I have never owned a TV before so I know little about them but basically I need a 40 inch TV, 1080p, with HDMI for games and watching TV etc. The prices of 40” 1080p TVs vary massively and I can’t see online why they differ so much. What are the other variables if they are all the same size and resolution and have HDMI ports? Is it panel quality?

    I don’t need higher than 1080p res as I already have that on my PC (which will be connected to this TV).

    Any recommendations? I’d like to keep it below €500 but I do want a decent quality one.
