AXA auto renewal with no notice!

Better half received a letter from AXA a few weeks back thanking her for renewing with them. Price for the year was 950 euro.

We received no notification from them beforehand and no no claims certificate. My understanding is that they are required by law to give 14 days notice?

She contacted them and was requoted 715. Was happy enough with that so decided to go for it. A deposit of 120 and 9 equal instalments.

When the first instalment was debited we realised it was the quoted price / 9. The deposit was not deducted. So really the full price was 825.

They were contacted by phone and they informed us that it was actually 825 and told us they would review the calls and get back to us. No correspondence. Had to follow up many many times. Finally a manager yesterday said they would call back.

Missed a call this morning presumably from them, doubt they will attempt again.

At this point I'm thinking a formal letter of complaint is the only way to go. Sick of wasting time and money on this.

They can call me again. I know they won't though. Not wasting any more time on the phone with them begging to talk to someone who can help.

Axa have branches, could you walk into one and try and get it sorted face to face?
A manager was to review the phonecalls, specifically the one where we were quoted a price equal to the actual price minus the deposit. Not sure they can do that in the branch.

These Regulations require insurers to give clients:

    (a) 15 working days notice in writing of a renewal of the policy and the terms of the renewal; and

    (b) a No Claims Bonus Certificate, as a separate document in addition to the renewal notification.

So it could be sorted but your too "pissed off" with them to ring back and say "sorry I missed your call".

Sorry but that is idiotic. Pick up the phone. Ring them back. Then if it isn't sorted then consider a letter of complaint. If you did it the way you suggest and it was sorted you would look like a fool in my book.

On an aside I never got a renewal notice this year at all. The week before it was due I rang them up about it (through a broker). Sorted out the renewal over the phone.

Okay I will ring them for the 9th time. Yes I'm pissed off.

So according to that statue I referenced they are obliged to inform before renewal. Could I argue the contract with them is void?

Forget about the "statue" and ring them first. If the cal goes downhill, you can ask them why no Renewal was issued.
