Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Rules

    - This is for the Best Game Design in 2015 (a cool gameplay mechanic, game world or something distinct that made a game stand out from the crowd).
    - Must apply to a game that was released on or after January 1st 2015 (search for the game on http://www.gamefaqs.com and look at the data tab for a release date).
    - Top 6-8 will go forward for the Vote (exact number dependent on number of nominations received).
    - This is the third group of nominations. Final group at the weekend.

I think the UI design of Super Mario Maker deserves praise for how simple they make it to create a level. Just compare it to the experience of creating a level in Little Big Planet for instance. It feels like you could give Mario Maker to anyone with a rudimentary understanding of 2D platformers and they would be able to create a level with very little help.

Splatoon, a near reinvention of the multiplayer shooter (can you even call it that? Multiplayer painter??)

MGSV, open world Metal Gear. Granted alot of the missions repeat themselves but for those 1st 20 hours it was unbelievably enjoyable!

Bloodborne - an immaculately crafted blend of level design, razor sharp mechanics and nuanced environmental storytelling.

Crypt of the Necrodancer - a near miracle of genre-melding. A joy to play: thrilling, challenging, fair and nuanced.

Sunless Sea - repurposing familiar RPG and rogue-like gameplay mechanics into storytelling mechanics is an incredible trick.
