As title says, turned off engine and locked car but dash lights still on 5 mins later, usually takes a minute or so, but she's parked up in a car park for 12 hours so worried battery will be dead when I get back to her 😢

Any ideas of the why on this one???

Are these the red led lights in the middle of the dash?

I've been noticing that on the other halfs 2011 focus recently. Sometimes the lights would go off in under a few minutes and other times they stay on for nearly an hour after locking.

I've been reading on the internet it could be your ignition barrel needs changing.

Thanks, hopefully they'll go off so, dreading the thought of going back to her being dead! Is the ignition barrel issue expensive?

Completely different car, but in my S40 the front lights come on and turn off as the car is turned on and off. Sometimes when I turn the car off, the lights don't turn off with it. I'd usually start up the car and knock it off again and this generally sorts it out. Worth a try in future?

My father in law has the 2008 focus, and I spotted that before. I've a 2010 one, and I think it does the same. Goes off after a few minutes.

Share 60% of parts and components? Haha, I do nothing but complain about our S40. Haven't had much luck with it at all, our previous Focus on the other hand was great. Rarely gave me any grief. Maybe we just got unlucky with our current car!

Make sure steering lock is engaged also as this can make them stay on I think.

As in 'if the lock is engaged it should turn the light off'?

Ya If steering wheel lock isn't on I think can cause lights to stay on but still might take few mins to go off anyway mine is same.

    Could be faulty fuse board,

unfortunately modern fuse boards are not like older ones and have all sorts of relays and mini ecus that stick on and need complete replacement ,( second hands ones are too hard too match up to chassis number ) just be thankful it's ford.

Hopefully this is not the case in your scenario but forewarned is forearmed.
