I've just had a stove installed and want to get a fuel bin or store for wood and coal. I dont want to get a bunker as I'd like to keep the coal in the bags and have space for chopped wood also.

I was thinking of buying a secondhand oil tank and cutting a door into it - if it was a round one I might try cut the top to hinge with a gas strut maybe.

Any experience you can share would be appreciated.

I keep my coal in a large plastic bunker and it's fine for that, but I don't think bunkers or tanks made of plastic or steel are suitable for storing wood. Wood will "sweat" in any kind steel or plastic container, especially where ventilation is poor- you need to have open sides for wood to dry.

The plastic storage boxes that take a few bags of coal are very cheap. B&q had them for under €30
