Does anyone have any recommendations for where to go for cardiac screening? I'd ideally like one where they do a treadmill test.
I've just signed up for my 1st marathon and just want to be sure there's nothing sinister going on before I get into t he heavy training!
Do you need a gp referral?
    Thanks

You don't say where you're located so I assume it's Dublin. I went to Dr. Deirdre Ward at Charlemont Cardiology, on the recommendation of another poster here. Full treadmill test to exhaustion as well as cardiologist consultation. I thought they were good. No GP referral necessary, just ring and make an appointment.

I also went to Deirdre Ward in the Tallagh hospital. She works with the CRY (Cardiac Risk in the Young) charity a few days a week. I found her and the team brilliant. There is a long waiting list to get an appointment through this free service unless you are a high risk candidate. I think they take private bookings 1 day a week to supplement the charity so if you are willing to pay I would imagine it would be quicker to get an appointment.

    That's brilliant-thanks a mil.

Murph - can you remember how much it cost in the Charlemont Clinic?

I do - it's expensive. About 290 all in, some of which I was able to claim back from insurance. Probably best to ring and ask though.
