Freelander II didn't start

    Hi all,

A friend of mine had a problem with his 07 Freelander II (diesel) today. On trying to start it the engine cranked but did not start. He tried it 5 or 6 times and he could not get it to start, so he rang his AA to get a call out for it to be towed, as he knew it wasn't a battery problem as he had replaced the battery just a month ago.

30 minutes later he decided to try it again, and it started straight away so he cancelled the AA before they came out.

It seems to be working fine again however he's wondering what might have caused it not to start earlier on today?

He's wondering if there might be a problem with a sensor somewhere and if so, would this show up on a garages computer diagnostics?

Has anyone experience anything like this before? He'd like to get to the bottom of it before it happens again.

    Thats your problem :-)

But otherwise, i would be thinking fuel or electrics - doubt anything will show up on diagnostic unless the EML is on but no harm trying

Youre right it could be a sensor or fuel supply problem. A diagnostic plug in might shed some light on it, whether it would be a freeze frame capture of the non start incident after a fault was logged or to access fuel pressure data etc.
