Nurses went on strike to improve conditions for patients.Government tries to buy them off by improving nurses conditions, offering them more holidays and promotions.

    Will it work?.
One specific issue that will come into focus will be a provision of additional leave for nurses working in emergency units in hospitals.
This additional two days additional leave in 2016 and 2017 is being officially described as “toil” in lieu of meal breaks.

So less Nurse work days per year?

The deal also provides for close to 150 promotions for emergency department nurses to a higher grade known as clinical nurse manager 1. Sources said there would be one promotional post for every shift. This will add to salary costs however health sources said there will not be other staff taken on to replace those who are promoted.

    150 New managers !.

Nurses are one of those groups that hold a special status in peoples eyes. They are hard working but they aren't actually that badly paid (ok compared to some of the IT people that use Boards they are), whats the starting basic before allowances etc 28-30k? and fairly sure that can be bumped with different qualifications.
Before somebody comes back with the 6.50 an hour, thats part of their college course.

Obviously they can't bail out in the middle of many procedures, but they need proper meal breaks

Missing them now and again is ok-ish, all the time and it's part of running a cult

I've tried to buy off a few nurses.

Sadly it never worked, hence why I'm single.

The nurses were going on strike due to understaffing and the government gives them 2 extra days off. How this helps with not having enough staff is beyond me, but in public service land I'm sure it makes sense!
The nurses unions are happy with this outcome, but they've some neck to say it's striking over patient safety!
