Multistory Q-Park - Rental Car Wing Mirror Hit

    Hi,

Long story but I had a rental car 3 weeks ago as mine was in the garage. Parked it while at work in a Q-Park multistory carpark and the wing mirror was hit and cover came off. There was a note apologizing on my windscreen with a name and number.

I called the number and a guy answered and agreed to pay damages. The cost was €180 however I cant make contact with the guy now. He's not answering. Is the car park obliged to show me cctv info to get the reg of his car?

Is there any other way of resolving this? All I have is a name and number.

Data protection laws would prohibit the car park from showing you any CCTV images which can be used to identify other parties, you are only entitled to video containing your own image.

However the Gardaí could probably get the footage.

Do you still have car? I'd say to let the rental place handle it, it's their car.

I doubt they'll be bothered since they'll just deduct the repair bill from the OP's deposit or his CDW insurance if he bought it.

Would the gardai openly take it on? I have given the car back and payed the bill myself alright.
