    Hi,

Does anybody know with the cycling Ireland setup is it possible to be a member of 2 clubs. I would like to join my local club for road cycling but they don't cater for mountainbiking, so I go on mtb spins with a club in a neighbouring town. I'd like to join both clubs.

You don't need to be a member of a club to join Cycling Ireland. When you are choosing your licence, there's an option to select unattached. I think most clubs would require you to take out some sort of license to join spins as that would cover you insurance wise. As far as I can tell, you can join as many clubs as you like, might start getting expensive with membership fees, club gear etc.

As far as I know you can join as many clubs as you want , but can only hold a license with one .

Following on from what sullzz has said, if you wish to race, you can only race with one club so in your case you would have to choose between road racing or MTB racing.

You can only have 1 club on youre CI license, but you can join 2 clubs if you wish. When racing, either on road or off, you'll have to wear the jersey off the club on youre CI license.

Thanks folks, I won't be racing. This is just for taking part in club spins.

No choice between disciplines is required - basically you race both disciplines but for the same club (in the same way I race track and road under my MSCC licence, (and my kids can race Ratoath BMX even though their licences are with MSCC, but they are also members of Ratoath))

I echo what Beasty said, if you wanted to race you can race any discipline under your club, as long as the license cover it, I've seen fella's race road in MTB club jerseys during the summer, up at the front too which always gives a chuckle.

Stick one club on your license, and see about meeting with the other for spins and such, if your a CI member depending on the club they might just let you tag along without having to join up.
