Fixing a fridge freezer?

The freezer box on my fridge is fcuked. The door wasn't sealing up and it just produces ice and more ice. The freezer box is only about 15% of the entire units size so I'm wondering do fridge freezers have two power sources, i.e. one for the fridge and another for the freezer? Is there likely a wire at the back I can cut to knock off power to the freezer box but still be able to chill the fridge? The make is Belling.

AFAIK most budget fridge freezers have a single compressor/control so no way to disable compartments.

You should be able to replace the door seal.

Is it a small under counter fridge??

As mentioned - there is usually only one compressor.
Then you will find that the there is a highre ratio of cooling coil in the freezer compartment than the fridge itself.
If you start messing with one of them and end up cutting one - its pretty much for the bin.

No its not an under counter fridge, though the freezer ice box section is about the same size as those in under counter units. It's about 5ft tall.
As for replacing the seals, its not an option because during defrosting it last week I managed to break the ice box door and the hinges were plastic so no chance of fixing it. Which is why I was hoping there might be a way of knocking the freezer element off by cutting a wire but as ye said it looks like no joy on this.
I think I'll just pack the ice box with water bottles to prevent it getting so iced up but ultimately I'll have to bin it.
